Indonesian Architects Week Kuala Lumpur 2024 (IAWKL 2024) exhibition was formally inaugurated on November 14, 2024, at The Godown in Kuala Lumpur. The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished figures, including Hendra P. Iskandar, Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia; Ar. Georgius Budi Yulianto, ST., MT., Chairman of the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI); Prof. Ar. Adrianta Aziz, President of the Malaysian Institute of Architecture (PAM); Emily Wee, co-founder of The Godown; Deddy Wahjudi, co-founder and board member of IAWKL 2024; along with curators Rizki Supratman and Trianzani Sulshi.
The exhibition featured the works of 70 architectural firms from 11 provinces across Indonesia, each responding to the theme, “Equatorial Synaesthesia: An Exploration of Sensory Harmony and Spatial Perception, Revisiting the Tenets of Critical Regionalism.” This thought-provoking theme encouraged architects to examine the sensory interplay and spatial perception inherent to the equatorial region, blending these with the principles of regionalism in a contemporary and critical context.
We are honored to present our project, Talaga Sampireun Bali, at this esteemed exhibition, where it has been selected in the category of Cultural and Ecological Resonance. We hope this event fosters the collaborative spirit among Indonesian architects and provides an opportunity for international connections, allowing the global community to reconnect with the vibrant domestic architectural landscape.
