Positioned at the far eastern edge of Golf Island in Pantai Indah Kapuk, the site sits beside a polder canal with views across a golf course and the open ocean beyond. To respond to the elongated plot and capture panoramic vistas, K-Thengono Design Studio shaped the residence as a tilted mass that rises from the ground and extends into the roofline.
The sloping form organizes both structure and program. Volumes containing the main bedroom, circulation block, and swimming pool are extruded from the inclined plane, projecting outward to frame ocean views. Openings are carved into the slope to bring daylight inside, form courtyards, and connect to outdoor areas.
Continuity between interior and exterior is reinforced through circulation. On the ground floor, spaces unfold in sequence from garage to guest lounge to backyard, where residents can ascend along the landscaped slope. Other functions follow the geometry of the house: the main suite is arranged around a private courtyard, children’s bedrooms incorporate mezzanines opening to terraces, and at the front, the stepped floor creates an amphitheater-like setting for film screenings.
Material articulation reinforces the architectural hierarchy. The inclined facade is cast in terracotta-toned pigmented concrete mixed with brick, set on a base of lava stone. As the house faces east-west, a perforated brick screen filters western sunlight. At the rear, terracotta tiles and flooring extend into planted terraces, merging the building with the landscape. The use of terracotta recalls the roof tiles commonly found in housing, grounding the contemporary form in a vernacular context. Projecting volumes are defined in wood-patterned concrete, complementing the earthy tone.
